No further news opposite Arun District Council (ADC) and our application for rates reduction.

Sprint 15 Open Event went well, and was supported by both club Members and visitors

Security- Police Crime Prevention Officer has now visited and made a series of recommendations. Agreed to go ahead with asking contractor to install new weld mesh fencing on East side of sea compound. VS to get quote from James Adfield for erection of Floodlights and PIR’s. FY to comment if this can be included in existing budget headroom for Site Electrics

 No new members to report. KB to discuss with George Schlich the preparation of Club’s new website. KB to do write up on Regatta for local press. Think about having an Open Day in 2008 as a means of publicising Club.

Party in Park Very successful, despite inclement weather. Raised circa £380 for the RNLI. Thanks to BM

Annual Dinner Dance-Confirmed for 20th October at Ham Manor. Agreed to book live band. Start to canvass for numbers attending at the Regatta. TN to think about what kind of raffle could be run.

Safety

Engine for new safety boat to be exchanged for a short shaft version. Need to investigate with Aquatech a suitable paint to make the new boat distinctive with ODC markings.

Attendance by members for their duties has been good.  

RD to suggest dates for running a familiarisation course for the new Safety boat.

RD to investigate options for running 3rd party provided, but ODC based training for Safety boats, use of Radios, and First Aid.

Boat Spaces

Still awaiting monies for the 3 new berths on the new racks. KB to chase up.

Two new canoes have appeared, chained to the racks behind the clubhouse. KB to investigate with MS

Treasurer’s report

Insurance will cover full cost of new safety boat, but we will only receive a portion of the cost of the new engine. FY to pursue.

Otherwise expenditure and income more or less as expected, but we are down on expectations for new members.

Racing

Committee boat transom has now been repaired, but there is no immediate solution to sourcing a suitable engine. Agreed that boat will be towed into position for use during Regatta.

2 new radios required to replace ones where the batteries are defunct. Agreed to purchase two Entel submersible radios

Regatta  Charge will be £5 per boat. FY will run registration/ money collection. KB to produce Sailing Instructions. Format of races will be decided by AW dependant on the weather forecast. A DIY BBQ will be run at the Club on Saturday evening. Hog Roast- need 75 to break even. Charge will be £6/head.
